The executive decision makers of organizations often have the interest to know the impact of security on the bottom-line operations of the firm. It is imperative to know how much the lack of security in an organization costs the firm before deciding on the amounts of capital to invest on security. The firm thereafter decides on the most cost effective solutions to its security woes. When applied to the security sector of the firm, a Return on Security Investment (ROSI) calculation provides quantitative answers to a firmââ¬â¢s essential financial questions. It informs the organization on the financial impact on productivity that the lack of security could cause. Additionally, Return on Security Investment calculation aids the firmââ¬â¢s management to know the extent to which the security investment is enough (Bruce, 2008). Finally, ROSI gives the firm an overview on the benefits of the security product or system. This task looks at security management issues, dissecting aspects of ROSI with reference to Blackberry Company. Sears Case Study Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Sears - Case Study Example The accusations brought against the company were considered to be quite grave and fatal owing to its impact on the reputation and business of the company. The request for reviving the case of Francis Latanowich prompted a review of the case by Judge Carol Kenner which revealed few facts that proved to act against the actions of the company. It was found from the further evaluation that the company mailed the security guard an offer according to which a payment of $28 each month made by the individual would prevent the company from reclaiming the goods that were purchased by Francis Latanowich before turning bankrupt. The act of influencing the debtors to enter into such agreements was known as reaffirmations and is considered to be lawful. Such kinds of agreements are considered to be quite common in the business of retail credit, however, it is perceived to be an unethical behavior by numerous judges. In addition to this, it was made mandatory for credit companies to file those reaf firmations with their respective courts for the reason of evaluating the potency of the debtor by the judge with regard to the fresh payment. The affirmation of Francis Latanowich was not found to be filed by the court and an explanation for such a conduct was demanded from the company by Judge Kenner. This proved to be the other breach that was made by the company. The company was also found to pay no heed to the law in quite a few similar cases that were considered to be illegal. Such grave accusations against the company and the violations of law made by the company called for huge losses as well as adverse reputation for it which would hamper its business operations in the future. The company was already stated to be suffering from huge losses owing to the increasing cases of personal bankruptcies that occurred from 1994 to 1998. In accumulation of the already existing losses, the fresh losses or charges incurred by the company due to violations and unethical practices would pro ve devastating for the survival of the company (Eugene D. Fanning Center For Business Communication, 2010). Recommendations The company should send out a letter of apology to its existing customers through electronic mails as well as through print media entailing newspapers. The company should also make an apology to the public and accept its responsibility regarding the unfortunate event through a press conference. It is

Farewell Speech Essay Example for Free
Farewell Speech Essay ââ¬Å" Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. â⬠ââ¬â Seneca. Middle school ended and now High school has begun. We all go into high school not knowing what to expect. Like if youââ¬â¢ll have the same classes as your best friend, if youââ¬â¢ll have nice teachers, or if youââ¬â¢ll get dumped in a trash can on ââ¬Å"Freshman Friday. â⬠The toughest thing is not knowing which of your friends for middle school will be at your school and which ones wonââ¬â¢t be, if your best friend is going to a different school then you. But itââ¬â¢s O. K. high school is a new beginning we get to reconnect with old friends from elementary school and see our friends from last year to. As time goes by and with each of our classes you build new friendships that strengthen as the year goes on. The more you get involved in school the more you get to become friends with more people. I did Cheerleading for school this year and I have no regrets, I made so many new friends because of it theyââ¬â¢re like my sisters now. I was also a wrestling manager and that was great I canââ¬â¢t wait to do it again next year, I didnââ¬â¢t only become close with the other managers I also became close with the wrestlers, theyââ¬â¢re like brothers now. But no matter how many friends you made in high school you never lose touch with the ones you had in middle school. Every Freshman had those ââ¬Å"Freshman Fears. â⬠Some not as bad others, but everyone has them. Like the fear of ââ¬Å"Freshman Fridayâ⬠itââ¬â¢s funny because we never actually had that. Itââ¬â¢s something they say to scare usâ⬠¦. And it works every time. We worry about if we have good teachers or not. Most of them are, but thatââ¬â¢s your own opinion. Will we have a lot of our friends in our class? Are they going to have the same lunch as us? We get scared that weââ¬â¢ll get lost in the hall ways, or seniors will run us over. We have so many worries because of what we hear about high school, and that sense weââ¬â¢re the youngest in the school we have the worst teachers. Itââ¬â¢s not like that at all in fact this year of high school was great, I wouldnââ¬â¢t change it at all. Yeah, this year wasnââ¬â¢t perfect, there was still drama and fights, but once everyone got past all that this year was really fun. Football games were always fun, everyone went to them and had a great time. Pep rallies are interesting, especially when the seniors and juniors try to win the spirit stick. A lot of people try to make high school sound scary and horrible, but it hasnââ¬â¢t been bad at all. Iââ¬â¢ve had a great year and canââ¬â¢t wait to see how the rest of high school will be.

Food Essay Paper (in-N-Out vs Mcdonalds
In-N-Out Burger VS McDonaldââ¬â¢s Within todayââ¬â¢s modern society we like to have everything when we want and have it at any given time. Growing with that trend, modern fast food places like McDonaldââ¬â¢s and In-N-Out Burger have giving their consumers that very thing. Even though In and out and McDonaldââ¬â¢s have been around for years, both vary their menus and the way they appeal to their consumers with the change of time. On the west coast, In-N-Out is favored more than it is on the east coast. While McDonaldââ¬â¢s is a worldwide company, with restaurants open in France, China, Iraq, and also America. Who is the better franchise; it is time to find out. The American hamburger is an American classic and the most recognizable menu item in the fast food industry. Even though there are many different takes on the types of meats, toppings, and dressings used, the hamburger has been a restaurant regular and historical favorite of both children and adults. The hamburger can even bridge cultural and religious divides. It can unite the masses, and with that being said many people agree that all burgers are not created equal. While McDonaldââ¬â¢s is synonymous with happy childhoods and those long bumpy road trips, In-N-Out caters to the majority of young adults past the age of fourteen desires a more sophisticated burger. McDonaldââ¬â¢s Quarter Pounder with cheese is the most popular hamburger at the famous fast food restaurant. Before people try In-N-Out, the Quarter pounder brings as much joy to people as any burger could. The half pound of beef drenched in cheese, stuffed between a sesame seed bun, garnished with thick cut onions, and a squirt of ketchup are a stunning combination for any occasion. Unfortunately, it is also usually waiting for customers before they even have a chance to order it. On an off day the bread can be stiff, the meat is dry and the cheese is slick. The dehydrated shredded lettuce is poured from plastic bags daily. Cus tomers found a way around this by masterminding a creative way to receive fresh food from McDonaldââ¬â¢s, special order.By requesting a hamburger with extra ketchup, a Filet Oââ¬â¢ Fish with extra tartar sauce, and French fries with easy salt, consumers have ultimately forced the king of burgers into making fresh food. While this is a tried and true technique, unfortunately it doesnââ¬â¢t work one hundred percent of the time. The alternative to gambling with pre-cooked burgers is In-N-Out. With an uncomplicated, no frills menu, In-N-Out Burger specializes in burgers, fires, and their famous shakes. Their one and only focus is burgers-not chicken, fish, or salads; it is a carnivoreââ¬â¢s dream. All of the ingredients are made fresh every single burger is made to order. Their signature gristle-free beef is never frozen, the hand leafed lettuce is crisp and fresh, the tomato slices are plentiful, and the buns are always soft and lightly grilled on the inside of the bun. The end result is a multi-ingredient masterpiece called a ââ¬Å"Double Doubleâ⬠that contains two juicy beef patties smothered with two pieces of cheese, Thousand Island dressing, crisp lettuce, and plump tomato rings stuffed inside of a fluffy bun.Although In-N-Out burgers are pure perfection as is, consumers have been prone to order something that is off the menu (but wellââ¬âknown) called ââ¬Å"Animal Styleâ⬠(extra dressing, grilled onions, and pickles). Quite frankly, more than half of their most popular items are off the menu, shrouded in secrecy and urban legend. On occasion customers have ordered another secret item called the ââ¬Å"Protein burgerâ⬠, which is a carb-free ââ¬Å"Double Doubleâ⬠wrapped in a full lettuce leaf.Even more secret burgers can be found by simply asking about the ââ¬Å"Three by Threeâ⬠or ââ¬Å"Four by Fourâ⬠that contains three or four patties and the same amount of cheese on either. The Flying Dutchman is simply t wo meat patties and two slices of cheese; it includes no bun, vegetable, or spread. Other secret items include: grilled cheese sandwiches, meatless burgers, root beer floats and chilies. Comparing McDonaldââ¬â¢s and In-N-Outââ¬â¢s fries, there is one clear victor. In-N-Out fries are peeled and sliced right in the restaurant for your viewing pleasure; they are meatier and fresher than their competitorââ¬â¢s infamous fries. The signature burger, fries, and real ice cream shakes cause traffic jams to the point where a cashier equipped with a PDA-style device greets you before you even pull into the drive-thru to head off the onslaught of eager customers. Ironically, both restaurants are competitively priced, but the quality of In-N-Out far surpasses McDonaldââ¬â¢s famous menus. From a practical standpoint, cleanliness is an important part of the fast food industry, not only in the restaurant image, but also health safety of the customer. If customers received a dollar every t ime they ate or entered a McDonaldââ¬â¢s, they could probably buy a franchise themselves. Sadly, most McDonaldââ¬â¢s restaurants from Los Angeles to New York look the same, somber and bleak. In stark contrast, In-N-Out Burger painted sterile white inside and out, makes their restaurants look refreshingly clean and bright. In-N-Outââ¬â¢s fire engine red sign catches customerââ¬â¢s eyes as they drive along side of the famous restaurant. The employees are super friendly and accommodating at all times during the dining experience.McDonaldââ¬â¢s serves its purpose in the middle of nowhere because of its familiar brand name, but itââ¬â¢s not usually a true hamburger aficionadoââ¬â¢s first choice. Customers have driven over ten or fifteen miles, passing several McDonaldââ¬â¢s in order to get to that little piece of ecstasy nestled in a piece of wrapping paper and a white envelope. Just the smell of a freshly grilled burger permeates your nose, and drowns your senses . If In-N-Out Burgerââ¬â¢s are tried just once, there will be no doubt that the consumer will be a couple of times a week. Lee, R. (2007). McDonalds and In-N-Out. Yahoo Voices. Fiammettaââ¬â¢s story differs from the rest of the stories by, his has many dangers that occur in one night rather than over a period of years. The second tale, Bernardo di Rossini and His Wife, was told by Dioneo. This story was different than the others by, it was a comedy story, showing to laugh over bad things than over virtuous deeds. In, Fabricio Goes to Naples, a man from Perugia, by the name of Fabricio, sold horses. When Fabricio heard that Naples sold horses at a cheap price, he set out with a purse full of money and some merchants, hoping to receive a good deal. Sadly, he couldnt find a good deal. Even to show he meant business, he foolishly opened his purse to display all of his money. A sicilian lady saw how much money he had and thought, ââ¬Å"Who would make better use of that money than me?â⬠The sicilian lady was with an older sicilian woman, whom knew Fabricio. When the older woman saw Fabricio she greeted him affectionately. Fabricio recognized the woman for she had lived with Fabricioââ¬â¢s father. When the two ladies got back home, the younger lady carefully questioned the older one about Fabricio, in order to find a way to get all of his money. Theorist of development: A. Cognitive (Piaget) Cognitive theories of development look at how thought processes and mental operations influence growth and change. Cognitive theory is looking at the development of a person s thought processes. It also looks at how these thought processes influence how we understand and interact with the world. One theorist and cognitive thinker was Jean Piaget, who gave an idea about how we think about child development. This is that children think differently than adults. Jean Piaget created one of the most famous theories of cognitive development he suggested that children are not just passive recipients of information. The child initially showed no fear of a white rat, but after the presentation of the rat was paired repeatedly with loud, scary sounds, the child would cry when the rat was present. Although classical conditioning is not used with children and young people as part of practice, it is useful to understand peopleââ¬â¢s phobias such as going to the toilet in strange places, fear of needles, frightening of dog. Operant conditioning - (sometimes referred to as instrumental conditioning) is a method of learning that occurs through rewards and punishments for behaviour. Through operant conditioning, an association is made between behaviour and a consequence for that behaviour. As a behaviourist, Skinner believed that internal thoughts and motivations could not be used to explain behaviour. Instead, he suggested, we should look only at the external, observable causes of human behaviour. Skinner divided the consequences of actions into 3 groups: - Positive reinforces are likely to make people repeat behavior when they get something they desire. He suggested that using positive reinforcement was the most effective way of encouraging new learning. It includes gaining adults attention, praise, stickers, sweet, treats. - Negative reinforces are likely to make people repeat behaviourShow MoreRelatedExplain Why It Is Important for Marketers to Understand the Concepts of Market Segmentation and Target Marketing.
